About Our Feather Friends |
All of the Happy Birds were hatched and
raised in the United States, and never taken from wild. The birds were
raised with love and compassion. Great care is given to assure
the heath and happiness of our friends. The Happy Birds diet consist of
Harrison's Bird Diet, organically grown fruits and vegetables, seeds and nuts
(no peanuts). Their housing area is cleaned daily. Each bird receives daily
fresh filtered water and food bowls filled with leafy greens supplemented
with fruits and other vegetables...corn on the cob is their favorite! The
Happy Birds dishwasher is in constant use to sanitize their food and water
bowls. Our methods of training are encouraging; never forced. The birds are
never harmed, abused or "made" to do anything. Anyone that has had a
parrot in their life knows that they are strong willed and can not be forced
into something they don't want to do. They are trained with positive
reinforcement (and a lot of patience :-).
Parrots are extremely intelligent and
complex creatures. They need mental stimulation. In the wild, they would
spend a good part of their day looking and foraging for food. Domestically
raised birds also need mental and physical stimulation to assure good
health. They do not possess the correct environment, skills or need for
searching for meals since everything is provided for them. At Happy Birds,
all of the birds have the opportunity to learn behaviors both natural and
trained, which stimulate and enhance their daily life. Teaching and training
gives the parrots a sense of purpose for good mental and physical health.
